MY ACCOUNT
From MVLC
To access your library account, click on the link that reads “My Account” at the bottom right of the search screen . If you don’t have your login information, your local library can provide it to you.
You will be taken to a screen where you enter your library card number and password.
Account Summary
After logging in, you will be taken to the Account Summary Screen. This screen allows you to view your library account information. There are also tabs here for viewing items you have checked out, items you have on hold, fines you may owe, your account preferences and your bookbags.
Items Checked Out
This screen allows you to see the items you have out, their due dates, the number of remaining renewals.
Renewals
To renew an item, select it by checking the box for the item in the Select column) and clicking on “Renew Selected Items” button. You may renew all items in a single operation by clicking on “All” (next to the word “Select”) and then clicking on the “Renew Selected Items” button.
Items on Hold
Items on Hold shows the materials you currently have holds (reserve) on. The title, author, format, pickup location, status and expiration date are displayed. The Active column shows whether your hold is currently active.
The status information you see tells you where you are in the holds queue (for example: “hold # 9 of 75 total holds and 29 potential items” mean). The whole message means that you're number 9 in the queue for this item and that there are 75 holds on the item in all. "29 potential items" means there's twenty nine items on this specific bibliographic record that could fill your hold. One of them will likely fill it.
If there are a lot of holds on a title, the number of potential items can give you a rough indication of how long it might take to fill your hold. For example, if there are 100 total holds and only 2 potential items, it will likely take longer than if there are 2 holds and 100 potential items.
Clicking the Edit link will bring you to the hold editing screen, where you may change how you would like to be notified ( you can have different notification methods for different holds) or which phone number to use when the item is ready for you to pick up. You may also change the pick up location. You may extend your hold expiration period, too.
You can use the Select checkbox and the Action for selected holds dropdown list to suspend, activate, set/change an activation date for or cancel the selected holds. You may set an activation date when you suspend your hold or leave the date blank and manually activate it later. A suspended hold will not lose its hold queue position.
Fines
The Fines area displays any fines or fees that you have accrued and the payments you have made. You can pay fines at your library.
Account Preferences
In the Account Preferences area, you can set several options for using the catalog. These preferences are effective when you are logged into your library account and searching the catalog from within your library account.
- Search Hits Per Page: You can increase or decrease the number of results that appear on each page when searching the library catalog.
- Default Font Size: The catalog offers a large font and regular font for display.
- Default Hold Notification Method: You may elect to be notified of available holds by email, phone, or both.
Default Search Location and Default Search Range
By default, if you’re not logged in, the catalog displays the holdings of the library you’ve selected before doing a search. If you’re logged in, the catalog displays the holdings of your “Home Library” (in most cases, the MVLC library at which you’re registered). You can change this default search scope from your Account Preferences.
To do this, log into your account and select "Account Preferences." Uncheck the "Always search my home library by default" radio button and then make a selection from the dropdown. To see all locations by default, select "Merrimack Valley Library Consortium." Then save your changes.
My Bookbags
You can see the bookbags you have created and create new ones in the My Bookbags section of the My Account area. You may also edit, share or delete bookbags from this area.
